Darjeeling TGFOP 2nd flush "Margaret's Hope"

A flavorful 2nd flush Darjeeling with a well balanced character from the famous tea garden in Darjeeling, India. "Margaret's Hope" Tea garden was named in memory of the owner Mr. Cruikshank's daughter Margaret who was enchanted by the tea garden. Upon sailing to England she promised to return to the tea garden but never did as a result of a fatal illness. Hence her father named the garden Margaret's Hope in her memory.

This tea has a fruitier, mature and less astringent flavor than 1st flush teas. It has a rich, full-bodied, exquisite “muscatel” character. The tippy, green-brown leaf produces a very clear and bright liquor. Tea experts may classify this as an afternoon tea but I found that it is great with breakfast, after a meal or during the day and best enjoyed without milk and just a bit of sugar.

Did You Know...

Darjeeling tea has traditionally been prized above all other black teas, especially in the UK and the countries comprising the former British Empire. It comes from Darjeeling in West Bengal, India. When properly brewed it yields a thin-bodied, light-colored liquor with a floral aroma a tinge of astringent tannin characteristics, and a musky spiciness often referred to by tea connoisseurs as "muscatel." A sweet cooling aftertaste should be felt on the mouth.
